| Pre-Adoptive Parent, Thinking of Adopting |
About Me
Hello, my name is Rebecca. My husband of 4 years, Kevin, and I are currently in the very beginning of the adoption process. Adoption has always been something we knew we were willing to do, and it was discussed very early on in our relationship. We now have a 3 year old son and a one year old daughter. We have always desired a large family, and previously thought we would adopt after having all the biological children we felt God was leading us to have. However, after much prayer and deep discussion, we feel He is leading us now down the path of adoption much sooner than we anticipated. We feel this is because somewhere, a precious child is being prepared for us, as we are being prepared for it. We share a deep love for parenting, and feel it is God's greatest gift to us on earth, to raise a child. How blessed we are to already be raising two, and we prayerfully and excitedly await the arrival of more children in our lives, however the means. We are ready to meet the challenges of adoption head on, and embrace the journey we will be on. |

As we begin this journey, we are already somewhat divided on which way we are supposed to be headed. My heart has always ached for international orphans, and my husband feels there are so many children here in the US that need adoption that it's silly to go overseas. So, the dilemma. International? Domestic? Even in prayer, I feel a tugging in me that pulls toward Asia, but he seems to be feeling led in a different direction. If any of you out there have been in a similar scenario, would you please share your experiences with us? And even if you haven't been in the situation, perhaps you once debated yourself which way to go, would you please share how it was you got to the choice you made? Thanks so much!
