My name is Karen Koenig.  I am a single adoptive mom of five children ages 3-20. I have 20 years of adoptive parent experience and 30 + years of teaching experience.  Two of my children are special needs.  One has bi-polar II.  He is 20.  I also have a ten year old boy with PDD-NOS.  My 3 year old has FAS and my 12 year old is ADHD. 

Two of my children share the same birthmother.  They are African-American.  Two of my children, the 20 year old and he 17 year old were born in South America.  My 3 year old is African American.

As a tribute to my children and all adopted children, I wrote, A is for Adoption.  This book explains adoption language using child friendly imagery and is accented by vibrant multi-cultural illustrations. The illustrator's daughter shares the same birthmother with two of my children.  The book can be ordered through Amazon, Borders and Barnes and Noble.  The audience is ages 3 to adult.
