A teratoma is a congenital (present at birth) tumor. This tumor contains three layers of tissue and can contain teeth, hair, organs, eyes, or bones. The exact cause of teratomas is not known. These large tumors may cause pain or illness in the child. Tumors that apply pressure on nerves can cause incontinence, difficulty in walking, or other symptoms.
