| Overview |
Sierra Leone is located in West Africa and is best known for the terrible civil war that took place there. There are numerous orphans awaiting adoption in Sierra Leone. There are very few agencies licensed to work in this country.
Children Available:
Infants and children up to 16 years of age are available. Many sibling groups.
Parent Qualifications:
Couples and single females may adopt from Sierra Leone. Parents must be at least 25 years old and although there is no upper age limit, parents over 55 may be asked to adopt a school-age child. This is flexible. There are no restrictions on family size.
Travel:
Sierra Leone is a single-trip program. Only one parent is required to travel there to attend the court hearing for the adoption for a duration ranging between 3-14 days.
