| Overview |
| Honduras has a very small adoption program. Parents who wish to adopt from Honduras should be willing to be patient.Children Available: Children of different ages are available who are either placed for adoption by birthmothers due to poverty or have been removed from birth families due to abuse / neglect and reconciliation has failed. Children are cared for in foster families or orphanages (both public and private) until they find their adoptive families. Special Needs are also available.Parent Qualification: Couples between 25 to 50 years of age and married for at least 3 years may adopt a child. Singles within the same age range can also adopt. The child must be identified and must qualify as an orphan.Timeline : After dossier completion till receiving referral, the timeframe is unpredictable / variable.Travel: Normally 4 weeks stay is required in Honduras, but stay length can vary from case to case. |
