| Overview |
Ecuador is a South American country with a small adoption program. Like many countries, parental poverty and neglect are the main reasons that the children become available for adoption in Ecuador.
Children Available:
Children of different ages, beginning with older-infants to school-age children are available. Children reside in orphanages (both public and private) or with foster families while waiting for adoption. Special Needs children and sibling groups are also available.
Parents Qualification: Following are eligible adoptive applicants:
Adoptive couple married for minimum 3 years. Younger parent must have an age difference with the child of at least 14 years. Single women: may adopt 5 years and older children Single men: may adopt 8 years and older childrenTimeline :After dossier completion until receiving a referral, the timeframe is unpredictable / variable.Travel: In case of adoptive couple, both parents must travel to Ecuador. Average stay is of 4 weeks, but stay length can vary from case to case. |
